CONSULAR ANNOUNCEMENT

ONLY APPLICATIONS FOR THE MACHINE-READABLE PASSPORT (M.R.P.) WILL BE ACCEPTED

The Philippine Embassy will accept only applications for the new Machine-Readable Passport (MRP) starting Sunday 22 June 2008. Residents of Dubai and the Northern Emirates are advised to apply directly at the Philippine Consulate-General in Dubai .BENEFITS

GREEN VERSUS MAROON

The new Machine-Readable Passport has the following benefits:
(1) It is based on the standard passport guidelines of the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO). ICAO has required all countries to issue Machine Readable Passports by 1 April 2010.
(2) It is readable by machines in immigration counters in ports of entry all over the world. It will make the processing of the entry and exit of Filipino travelers faster. There will be no need to manually encode the passport data of the Filipino traveler.
(3) It has 44 pages (the old Green passport has only 32 pages).
(4) The data page of the passport is fully printed (the entries in the old Green passport are manually scripted).
(5) It contains many security features to avoid tampering.
PHOTO AND PRICE
The background for the passport photo must be “royal blue” instead of white.
The cost of the new Passport remains the same: 200 Dirhams.
WAITING TIME
In as much as the Passport must be manufactured in the Philippines , the new Passport will be released after at least thirty (30) days from filing date. Measures are being made to reduce this waiting period. The applicant’s old passport will be cancelled only upon receipt of the new Machine-Readable Passport. The Embassy may issue to applicants a letter concerning this waiting time, for presentation to their employers or to the authorities.

LIST OF REQUIREMENTS FOR THE MACHINE READABLE PASSPORT (MRP)

RENEWAL OF PASSPORT


1. MRP Data Encoding Sheet
2. Three (3) colored photographs
          (a) Size 3.5 cm x 4.5 cm
          (b) Royal blue background
          (c) Decent attire with collar
          (d) Taken within the last six months
          (e) Good quality, not glossy paper
          (f) Facial image must not exceed 3 cm
3. Current Passport
4. Photocopy of current passport, showing the following:
         (a) Inside front cover
         (b) Inside back cover
         (c) Page containing latest Philippine immigration departure stamp
         (d) Page containing latest UAE immigration arrival stamp
         (e) Page containing UAE Visa
5. Personal appearance of applicant, except:
         If (a) 8 years old and younger, (b) 65 years and older, (c) Mentally or physically incapacitated,
         applicant shall be represented by Filipino parent, son/ daughter or guardian.
6. Fee: AED 200FIRST –TIME APPLICATION (CHILD BORN IN THE U.A.E.)
Please note: Report of Birth must also be accomplished at the Embassy by the applicant at the same time.

          (a) Size 3.5 cm x 4.5 cm
          (b) Royal blue background

          (f) Facial image must not exceed 3 cm
3, Birth Certificate issued by the UAE Ministry of Health or Abu Dhabi Health Authority, stamped and signed by the UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and photocopy
4. Report of Birth issued by the Embassy, and photocopy
5. Passport of Filipino parent, and photocopy
6. Personal appearance of Filipino parent
7. Fee: AED 200

REPLACEMENT OF LOST PASSPORT
1. MRP Data Encoding Sheet
2. Three (3) colored photographs
         (a) Size 3.5 cm x 4.5 cm
         (b) Royal blue background
         (c) Decent attire with collar
         (d) Taken within the last six months
         (e) Good quality, not glossy paper
          (f) Facial image must not exceed 3 cm
3. Report from the UAE Immigration Office, stamped by the Abu Dhabi Police GHQ, and translated into English
4. Affidavit of Loss (form available at the Embassy)
5. Birth Certificate and photocopy, if available
6. Photocopy of lost passport, if available
7. Personal appearance of applicant, except:
If (a) 8 years old and younger, (b) 65 years and older, (c) Mentally or physically incapacitated,
applicant shall be represented by Filipino parent, son/ daughter or guardian.
8. Fee: AED 460

    Magandang araw po ,

    Nirenew ko ang aking pasaporte noong October 21, 2009. Magtanong lang po ako kung nandiyan na ba sa Consular Office natin o wala at saka kailan ko pwedeng makuha na kasi kailangan na sa opisina ng pinagtrabahuan ko para maprocess na nila po yong renewal ng aking kontrata.

    Good morning!.. I applied the renewal of my passport last october 21, 2009. I would like to ask if it is now in our consulate office because in my receipt is only 6 weeks i can get it but until now i don’t receive a response from your good office regarding the status of it and my employer always asking my passport so that they can renew my new visa because it will expire this coming December 17, 2009 and they said that if my passport is not yet ready they told me that after the expiry date of my visa i will have a find of 2,500 dirhams/per day.
